We’re bringing fully automated, in-line chemical testing solutions engineered for the petroleum industry.
Our solution allows you to save costs while increasing the quality of your operations. We do this by alleviating the manpower required to do a repetitive task that we automated.
Why we are here
Water content is one of the largest hurdles that Canadian oil production faces. Batteries across the country are tasked with removing water before shipping oil. Currently, these facilities require operators to manually test samples using Karl Fischer (KF) titration. During this time-consuming task, multiple errors may arise due to the lack of laboratory methods and equipment. With the requirement that sales oil contains less than 0.5% water, manual results can misrepresent the actual value due to this finite range. This misrepresentation can lead to issues such as incorrect operating or the loss of shipping and sales.

Smitholeum reduces your operational burden while providing you and your team real-time and accurate data on your oil.
Functional Testing
The Karl Fischer methods are considered the industry's gold standard for accuracy. They are used to calibrate meters across the country and their results are undisputed.
Direct In-line Measuring
Our modular testing units can be installed at any location in your facility. This allows for oil to be directly withdrawn and tested within minutes. There's no contamination and no delay in results.
Tailor-made Reporting
The test results are wirelessly sent from the units. The results can be integrated into your current system as a simple notification or as a process control.

Take the example below for savings related to an oil battery's operations:

_________________________________________

How it Works
1) Oil is withdrawn from a sample line and pushed into a known volume loop
2) A push fluid pushes the oil sample from the known volume loop into the Karl Fischer titrator
3) The KF titrator measures the water content in the oil sample
4) The system then self-cleans to remain contamination-free
5) Receive the test results wirelessly sent from the units. The results can be integrated into your current system
